Testing the preamble

Many Alumni Ventures Group investors are interested in making an impact through their venture investments. In response, AVG launched our Anti-Bias Fund, which offers investors a portfolio of ~20-30 venture investments that are led by a diverse founding team or feature a business model addressing systemic biases.

We’re pleased to introduce you to one of AVG’s initial investments in the Anti-Bias Fund, which supports diverse founders and companies who help correct systemic biases. AVG recently invested in Yumi and interviewed the company’s Co-Founder and President, Evelyn Rusli.

In 2019, female founders received more U.S. venture capital funding than ever before. But hold the applause: that amounted to less than 3% of total startup funding. Add in mixed-gender co-founder stats and you still only get to 9% of total venture funding in 2020.

Since we launched AVG’s Anti-Bias Fund at the start of January, we’ve received about $1M in commitments. Thank you to all who have supported this fund.
