VENTURE VERSUS THE VIRUS

In times like this, we all need to hear — and share — constructive news about work being done to tackle problems caused by COVID-19. Here’s what some AVG portfolio companies are contributing.

Today’s Portfolio Company: Sesame

Sesame, an AVG portfolio company, is aiming to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and transparent, with a specific focus on assisting uninsured or underinsured individuals. Sesame’s online marketplace allows patients to directly book appointments with medical providers at transparent prices. Healthcare providers can list open appointments and vary price by quality and availability. Being paid directly helps providers avoid waiting for insurance reimbursement.

With COVID-19 in mind, Sesame has introduced a virtual appointments platform that allows providers to safely continue their practice and treat patients. Sesame’s platform integrates with existing telemedicine platforms and allows providers to conduct video visits with patients at no charge to the practice or administrator.

Sesame’s COVID-19 Guide

Sesame has compiled a COVID-19 resource guide with a free online risk assessment, details on COVID-19 testing, and other tools and resources for protecting your health, getting care, and staying informed during the crisis.

Sesame’s Focus

  1. Convenient for consumers: Easily search for the service that you need, with upfront prices and clear descriptions of medical services.
  2. Compelling for doctors: Sesame provides a new revenue stream that is pre-paid and doctor-driven, with the doctor controlling schedules and pricing.
  3. Efficient for all:No billing or claims delay for doctors; patients don’t need insurance and are able to schedule and pay online.
